How will the course be held?

All the classes will be online and in English. You will be able to connect to the classes through Zoom. You will be able to use your own PC. There will be no need to purchase any license for any tools during the localization school. You will have access to the video recording in case you cannot join any part of the school. In total, you will receive 50 hours of teaching.

Who should join this localization school?

This localization school provides a comprehensive overview to localization tools, process and trends. Freelance translators, translation students, translation professors, language industry employees who would like to reinforce their knowledge in localization industry as well as anyone interested in being a localization professional are welcome to join. No prior knowledge of CAT tools is required.

What do we offer?

Aside from the intensive courses, we offer you the possibility to connect with colleagues from all around the world and foster a community of localization professionals which you will feel attached to though everything will be online. Upon completing the localization school, you will receive a certificate of participation. No exam will be held but we will encourage you to support a free and open source project with localization. This will be optional.

You will also be able to meet industry professionals from different roles and ask all your questions and get the chance to network with them and establish strong relationships. Finally, once a week, we will have e-coffee break to freely chat and socialize.

Can I follow all the classes from video recordings?

We understand that some of you will still be working during the day. For this reason, we give you access to video recordings which you can watch for extended period of time and if you have any questions, you can ask professors or colleagues in our private community group. In our localization school, we had students who followed all classes online successfully and had the chance to join live virtual drinks 🙂

Can my company pay for my registration fee? Can companies let their employees join?

Yes, we accept collaboration with companies and are ready to provide necessary documentation to facilitate the participation of colleagues from the industry who are willing to hone their skills. Get into contact to us to request invoice on behalf of your organization.

Which payment options do you have?

Once you fill out the registration form, we send you a PDF with our payment options including wire transfer, PayPal and Wise. In case you wish to pay by credit card, we can generate a PayPal payment link so that you can pay through credit card. You do not need to have PayPal to use this option.

Who are we?

Localization School is a new, independent course initiative born from the Tradumàtica Translation Technologies Summer School in Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Aside from generic translation technologies, its focus is on localization industry and its workflows. As an independent project, the initiative aims to provide trainings for individuals, companies and organizations throughout the year with long courses as well as short webinars, workshops and other activities. This year the localization school is coordinated by Dr. Gokhan Dogru who is based in Barcelona and teaching in Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Our professors have been teaching in Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, Universitat Pompeu Fabra and University of Geneva among others.
